At the inaugural Global Governance Forum near Beijing on Friday evening, Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned against a space arms race and urged equal rights for all countries in outer space. This comes weeks after the Pentagon confirmed the deployment of weapons in space. The forum, which included nearly 400 representatives from over 90 nations, heard Wang's statement as part of Beijing’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI), introduced by President Xi Jinping last September. Wang emphasized the need for rules governing outer space to keep pace with exploration and benefit all countries equally. A paper titled “China’s Stance on Enhancing Outer Space Governance” was released by state news agency Xinhua following the forum, further detailing Beijing's position on space governance.
