Thomas Goodwin, a 54-year-old Civil War reenactor, went missing on September 5 from an event in Yelm, Washington. He vanished while wearing a Confederate Army uniform with a sling carrying a Civil War-era rifle. The Washington State Patrol issued an Endangered Missing Person Alert after he disappeared near George Road, a rural area southwest of Tacoma.
Goodwin was found days later still dressed in his reenactment uniform when a bystander on a motorcycle heard him asking for help and called 911. First responders from the Yelm Fire Department located Goodwin and provided assistance. The event where he disappeared is believed to be the Evenson Farm Civil War reenactment, described as the "largest" in the Pacific Northwest by the Washington Civil War Association.
