Quick Summary

Leo Carlsson scored and assisted on the game-winning goal as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4 on Saturday night, ending their five-game losing streak. The victory was particularly sweet for Carlsson after the Flyers had attempted to sign him with a record-breaking $90 million offer sheet last summer; however, the Ducks matched it, keeping Carlsson through the 2030-31 season. During the game, Philadelphia fans chanted against Cutter Gauthier, who forced a trade from the Flyers in January 2024 when they tried to secure him with an offer sheet similar to that of Carlsson’s.

Story summary

On October 24, Leo Carlsson helped the Anaheim Ducks overcome a two-goal deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4 in an NHL game. This victory came after Philadelphia had offered Carlsson a five-year, $80 million contract last summer, which Anaheim matched, keeping him with the Ducks. In this crucial match, Carlsson scored one goal and assisted on another, setting up Beckett Sennecke's power-play goal that proved to be the game-winner. The win snapped the Ducks' five-game losing streak and drew attention to Carlsson's leadership as he currently leads Anaheim in scoring with 13 points (three goals, ten assists). Meanwhile, Cutter Gauthier, who played for Philadelphia until January 2024 when he was traded, faced continued boos from Flyers fans during the game.
