Former Premier League footballer Jermaine Pennant needed more than 50 stitches after being attacked by a German Shepherd in north London last week. The incident occurred while Pennant, 43, was walking his dog, King, an American Akita. According to Pennant's account on Instagram and interviews with talkSPORT, the attacking dog latched onto his leg as he tried to protect King from an initial attack by the same German Shepherd. Pennant said that once King intervened, it helped fend off the aggressor, preventing a more severe outcome.
Pennant required hospital treatment for four bite wounds on his right leg and has posted images showing extensive bruising and scars resulting from the attack. He stated that King was unharmed but did not report the incident to police. Pennant expressed fear during the ordeal as he couldn't see the extent of his injuries due to blood-soaked clothing, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
