On October 27, 2026, Dayanna Familia, 35, was arraigned in Dorchester after being arrested for her alleged role in the death of her four-year-old daughter Liyanna on August 17. Prosecutors claim that when emergency services responded to Fuller Street in Boston, Familia falsely told EMS personnel that "the child was drinking milk when she turned blue and perhaps had gotten into a roach trap," even though she knew the girl's condition was caused by fentanyl poisoning. A search warrant at Familia’s home found traces of fentanyl. She pleaded not guilty but her bail was set at $250,000 despite her attorney requesting a lower amount due to financial hardship for her family.
