Story summary

American rapper Macklemore began his "Free Palestine" tour in Dublin on October 26, 2026, after being dropped from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour following pro-Palestinian comments he made onstage. The tour was initiated to support Palestinians amid Israel's military campaign in Gaza, which commenced in response to a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of about 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 others. Macklemore declared he would fight for collective liberation "until our last breath," waving a Palestinian flag during his performance at Dublin's 3Arena to an overwhelmingly supportive crowd. The rapper stated that proceeds from this tour will benefit organizations supporting Palestinians, including Anera, Taawon, and UNRWA USA.

Narrative

I talked to these young people because they are some of the many Irish fans who have turned out to see the rapper Macklemore kick off his Free Palestine Tour, which has been swiftly organized in the six weeks since New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft refused to let him perform at his stadium as Ed Sheeran’s support act.
