Story summary

Greece has arrested three men over an explosion in Athens on September 25 that killed six people, including four Americans. The suspects are two Greek nationals and an Albanian who allegedly stole copper gas pipes from the building, causing a natural gas leak. Fire brigade officials concluded that hours before the blast, the suspects damaged the main gas supply infrastructure while removing the copper pipe parts. The explosion occurred when one of the residents turned on a light early in the morning. Among the victims were Florida Hoxha and her husband Ian Kirkpatrick, both 34 and 37 respectively; her brother Florin Hoxha, 36, and his partner Eris Caney, 39 (who was five months pregnant); and an elderly British-Greek couple. The suspects are expected to appear before a prosecutor on Friday.
