On October 29, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m. local time, two helicopters — an Airbus H125 and a Robinson R22 — collided mid-air near McMinnville Municipal Airport southwest of Portland, Oregon. The crash killed all three people aboard both aircraft, including flight instructor Maddie Aasbo and British aviation student Christopher James Joughin, 31, from Zimbabwe. Witnesses reported hearing the helicopters before one "dropped straight down" into a field, causing emergency responders to close a nearby highway as they rushed to the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the collision.
