Durkan, a serial voyeur, was jailed after being convicted for filming women in their north London homes from January 2020 to March 2026. The case came to light when a woman reported that her neighbor saw Durkan dressed in black and wearing a balaclava recording through her windows early one morning. Weeks later, another victim confronted him as he recorded her through her window; the incident was captured on security camera footage. In response, the Metropolitan Police increased patrols and arrested Durkan during a proactive patrol in March 2026. Upon searching his devices, police found hundreds of images and videos of women across multiple devices, with officers still determining how many different victims were involved. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger stated that Durkan carried out a "calculated and deeply intrusive campaign" targeting women's privacy. The Met continues to investigate and seeks additional witnesses from Islington and north London who noticed unusual activity around their homes during the same period.
