Nearly 1,200 migrants crossed the English Channel into Britain over three days starting October 31, ending a 21-day pause in crossings. The total number of arrivals was 263 on Thursday, followed by 671 on Friday and 259 on Saturday, according to Home Office figures that put the annual tally at 21,869 as of November 1. Footage captured migrants struggling violently over spots on boats near the French coast; one man was seen moving towards a boat with a knife but dropped it before boarding. The renewed crossings come amid concerns about child migrants, with reports of at least 2,182 unaccompanied children making the journey since January.
