On October 31, 2026, during a game against Georgia in Atlanta, the Florida Gators replaced quarterback Aaron Philo with Tramell Jones Jr. in the second quarter after Philo threw his second interception of the day, setting up Georgia for a field goal and a 10-0 lead. Philo was struggling, completing only 5 out of 7 passes for 26 yards with two interceptions before being benched. Tramell Jones Jr., who had previously led Florida to an upset win against Texas, played well in his place and helped the Gators come back from their early deficit. Coach Jon Sumrall said the decision was based on "health and availability," after both players were listed as probable due to recent injuries.
