As of November 1, 2026, six Indian tourists, including two women and four men, are missing during a trek to Shey-Phoksundo Lake in Nepal's Dolpa district. The group disappeared after heavy snowfall influenced by Cyclone Arnab, which developed over the Bay of Bengal. They were last reported near Numla Pass and Bagla Pass between Ward Nos. 4 and 8 of Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality.
Local officials confirmed that the tourists ignored warnings about dangerous weather conditions and proceeded into high-altitude areas covered in heavy snow. The group became stranded while returning from Dho towards Phoksundo Lake, a region known for its challenging terrain and extreme weather. Nepal's District Administration Office initiated rescue efforts on October 31, with an Army helicopter dispatched to locate and retrieve the missing tourists.
Dolpa Chief District Officer Junu Dhakal stated that communication with the stranded group was lost by Saturday night (October 31). Security personnel are making ongoing efforts to reach and rescue them from the remote and treacherous mountain passes.
