On October 31, 2026, during Halloween celebrations in Malabar, Sydney, a black ute failed to stop for drug and alcohol testing on Anzac Parade at 7.15 pm. A police car pursuit ensued as the driver reached speeds of up to 100km/h, doubling the speed limit and driving on the wrong side of the road. The chase ended when the ute crashed into an embankment near the 8th hole of the Coast Golf and Recreational Club in Little Bay, where it was abandoned. Less than an hour later, a second pursuit occurred after the man was spotted driving a white hatchback along Anzac Parade; this pursuit concluded with the car reversing into a police vehicle in a cul-de-sac off Anzac Parade. Two people, a 38-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, were arrested without any reported injuries but with minor damage to vehicles involved.
