An oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia was struck by what Russian authorities describe as a “massive” drone attack, resulting in significant damage and at least two deaths. The strike occurred overnight on October 30, with Russian officials reporting that more than 1,000 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions. Ukraine has been accused of resuming attacks on Russian oil facilities after a brief pause; however, Kyiv has not commented directly on the incident. Russia’s deputy prime minister for energy issues, Alexander Novak, warned that these strikes could reduce Moscow's planned diesel exports. The attack caused fires and explosions at the Kstovo oil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, one of Russia's largest refineries. Russian investigators have opened a criminal case on terrorism charges over the suspected Ukrainian drone strike.
