On November 1, Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was left motionless after a violent collision during a game against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter when Campbell tackled Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson while falling to his knees, causing his head to make contact with Hockenson's facemask. Medical personnel rushed onto the field as Campbell appeared unable to move and was eventually taken off on an immobilized cart to a local Detroit hospital for evaluation of a neck injury.
Campbell’s teammates were visibly upset; defensive end Aidan Hutchinson shed tears, and Lions quarterback Jared Goff described the situation as "scary." The Vikings players showed respect by standing back while Campbell received medical attention. Head coach Dan Campbell expressed concern for his player's well-being but provided no further details about Campbell's status beyond confirming that he was in the hospital being evaluated.
The game ended with a 19-15 victory for the Lions, though this overshadowed by the severity of Campbell’s injury and the emotional toll on the players.
