Jesús de Miguel, a 30-year-old forward for CD Tenerife in Spain's second division, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, one day after suffering cardiac arrest from an on-field collision during a match against FC Andorra. The incident occurred when he was struck in the chest by Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono, who rushed out of his area to clear a long ball and accidentally hit de Miguel with his knee. De Miguel collapsed immediately, leading to medical intervention and his subsequent admission to the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz, where he was initially reported as "stable." The match was abandoned seven minutes into stoppage time after the collision.
The Spanish Football Federation expressed condolences and support for Tenerife's family and teammates. FC Andorra also offered their sympathies to de Miguel’s family and friends, stating that Owono did not intend to hurt him and has been deeply affected by his death.
