As of November 3, 2026, emergency services found the body of an 11-year-old boy who had been reported missing near the Broken River in Shepparton, Victoria's north. The search began on Monday afternoon after reports that the boy had jumped into the river and did not resurface. Police, SES, and Search and Rescue crews were involved in the rescue efforts, which continued until Tuesday morning when they recovered the boy’s body. Ex-Collingwood player Chris Egan confirmed the boy was his cousin and urged friends and family to join the search before it concluded with a tragic outcome. The death is not being treated as suspicious by Victoria Police, who will prepare a report for the coroner.
