Quick Summary

The 2027 Asian Cup, originally set to take place from January 7 to February 5 in Saudi Arabia, has been rescheduled to December 23, 2027, through January 21, 2028, due to recent security incidents, including a missile attack that killed 13 and injured over 300 people. The Asian Football Confederation cited logistical challenges and travel disruptions as reasons for the postponement, pending approval from FIFA. Story summary

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has postponed the 2027 Asian Cup, originally set for January 7 to February 5, 2027 in Saudi Arabia, due to regional conflict and security concerns. The new dates are now from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028. This decision was made following extensive consultations with Saudi organizers amid ongoing attacks on the country by Yemen's Houthi movement. As a result, teams like Australia’s Socceroos will have to wait another year for their next chance at tournament success.
