Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel, 30, died on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest after suffering severe chest trauma from an on-field collision during a Spanish second-division match against FC Andorra on Monday. The incident occurred in the seventh minute of stoppage time when De Miguel was challenged by Andorra's goalkeeper Jesus Owono, who rushed out of his area to clear a long ball, striking De Miguel with his knee. The match was abandoned shortly after the collision as players were seen in tears. Tenerife confirmed De Miguel's death in a statement and said his body would be transported to Navahermosa at the request of his family for a "final farewell." Several Champions League teams also paid tribute to De Miguel by not playing the customary anthem ahead of their matches, highlighting the impact of his loss across the football community.
