As of November 3, 2026, the World of David Walliams attraction at Alton Towers is permanently closing just five years after its multimillion-pound launch in May 2021. The decision was made by Merlin Entertainments, which owns Alton Towers, as part of their annual review of rides and attractions at the end of the main season. This closure comes amid allegations of inappropriate behavior towards women that Walliams strongly denies. Following these allegations, his publisher HarperCollins dropped him in December 2025 and is now phasing out his titles. The attraction featured popular rides such as Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp, and The Royal Carousel, along with shops like Raj’s Shop and The Burger Kitchen. Walliams, known for his children's books that have sold over 60 million copies worldwide in 55 languages, saw a significant decline following the allegations and publisher's decision.
