A Swiss luxury watch worth approximately $290,000 was stolen last week from a Tokyo store when a man posing as a customer fled while still wearing it. The theft took an unexpected turn when the store received a package containing the returned watch along with a handwritten apology note. The serial number on the watch confirmed its identity as the stolen item. Although the package included a name and address, police suspect this information is fake. Tokyo police are currently searching for the man suspected of theft, while the shop has declined to comment. In August, another store in the same shopping complex experienced a similar incident where four luxury watches worth 200 million yen ($1.3 million) were stolen; two Chilean nationals were arrested and indicted in connection with that crime.
