On November 3, 2026, Manchester United fans protested against the club's ownership during a Champions League match against an Italian team. Before kickoff at Old Trafford, supporters released green and gold balloons but later threw tennis balls onto the field in the first half, causing a temporary halt to the game. The protest was directed at both the Glazer family owners and more recently, INEOS, which acquired a minority stake in the club. United lost 2-0 within the first 18 minutes due to goals by Matias Soule and Donyell Malen, further angering fans who booed loudly as their team left the field at halftime. The club's poor performance has led them to 17th place in the Premier League with just two victories all season.
Supporters were handed green and gold balloons which were thrown into the sky from the Stretford End before kick-off in the latest display of protest against the Glazer family and more recently, INEOS.
The home support booed loudly as their team trudged off at the interval, and chants rang around Old Trafford criticising the directors sat in the heavens, including director of football Jason Wilcox by name.
