On October 31, 2026, a fire damaged the headquarters of the Senatobia Police Department in Mississippi, which had been controversial due to an officer shooting and killing a 1-year-old boy named Kohen Wiley earlier that year. The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is investigating whether the fire was intentionally set as an act of arson. On November 4, Garrick Rawls, described as a civil rights activist from Huntsville, Alabama, was charged with setting the fire. Rawls faces federal arson charges despite being over 220 miles away from Senatobia at the time of the incident. The police department remains operational without any service interruptions.
