As of November 4, 2026, the Senate race in Alaska remains unresolved and could take weeks to determine due to the state's unique voting system and vast geography. Incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan is facing Democrat Mary Peltola, with two other candidates also on the ballot: an independent candidate Daniel J. Sullivan and another Republican Gerald Heikes. With around three-quarters of votes counted as of Wednesday morning, the race remains a toss-up according to CBS News estimates. Alaska's ranked-choice voting system requires a second round if no candidate receives more than 50% support in first-place rankings, delaying results until at least 15 days after Election Day. Democrats have already secured enough seats to maintain control of the Senate, and the outcome in Alaska could further shift power dynamics.
