On November 4, 2026, SWAT units responded to an "active threat" at a Citibank campus in Brandon, near Tampa, Florida. Law enforcement confirmed one victim and the suspect were killed during the incident. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office identified the gunman as Jacob Pearson, who had previously threatened violence over a $2,500 debt collection to an attorney associated with Citibank about three hours before the shooting. According to Sheriff Chad Chronister, Pearson targeted the campus specifically due to his anger over this debt and was equipped with an AR-15 rifle. Approximately 3,200 employees were working at the complex when the incident occurred.
