Quick Summary

The Democratic victories in the US midterm elections have shifted political dynamics in Washington, with 70% of voters expressing a desire for Congress to limit presidential power. Despite this, control over foreign policy remains largely in the hands of President Trump. A key early test will be whether Democrats can block or delay a $14 billion arms package for Taiwan, which includes Patriot interceptors and missile systems intended to bolster Taiwan's defense capabilities against China.
