LIV Golf, a breakaway professional golf league backed by Saudi Arabia, is set to shut down after losing its latest financial support. BC Partners, an investment firm that was expected to provide up to $300 million for the relaunch of "LIV 2.0," has withdrawn its backing due to insufficient player commitment. The league began in 2022 with high-profile players like Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Phil Mickelson signing on, but it struggled after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) withdrew funding earlier this year. LIV Golf filed for bankruptcy protection in September and has now decided to wind down operations instead of pursuing a new version of the league.
