Trade union leaders are threatening to bring production "to a standstill" at Europe’s largest grain distillery, Diageo's Cameronbridge, with more than two weeks of strike action starting in late September and ending just before 6am on Thursday October 15. Different groups of workers, including distillation and process controllers, distillery and machine operators, technicians, quality control analysts, process chemists, and engineers, will participate in targeted strikes. Unite general secretary Sharon Graham warned that Diageo has no justification for slashing hundreds of jobs when the company is making hundreds of millions in profit. Union officials are demanding better job security, pay, and working conditions for employees at Cameronbridge.
