Johnny Nansen, the co-defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns football team, was arrested on Wednesday night in Austin, Texas after being involved in a three-car crash. The Austin Police Department (APD) reported that Nansen displayed signs of intoxication at the scene and failed field sobriety tests, leading to his arrest for DWI, a Class B misdemeanor. He spent the night in jail before being released on Thursday morning.
Coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the incident during media availability, describing it as “an unfortunate situation.” Nansen did not attend the team’s practice that day and his status for the upcoming game against UTSA remains uncertain. The arrest occurred just a few months after Nansen joined the Texas staff in 2024.
