Arsenal is set to receive a £34.2 million windfall after a deal involving 25-year-old USMNT striker Adama Traoré-Balogun broke down on transfer Deadline Day. Balogun's frustration stemmed from feeling that Monaco was pursuing other signings behind his back, particularly Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee. He cited Everton’s medical department raising doubts about his future and health as the reason for his reluctance to sign a long-term contract with Monaco.
Balogun, who has yet to play this season due to a knee injury, might return against Lens on Friday night if head coach Filipe Luis gives him clearance. However, Scuro, Monaco’s director of football, confirmed that selling Balogun in the January transfer window is part of their plan. This move would allow Monaco to retain other players like Lamine Camara and Aleksandr Golovin until the end of the season.
