JJ Gabriel, a 15-year-old forward from London who plays for Manchester United, has traveled to Barcelona amid interest from several top European clubs including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris St-Germain. Gabriel informed Manchester United that he wants to cancel his registration immediately, which would prevent him from moving to another English club until the end of the season if United maintain his current status. If Gabriel obtains a European Union passport through either parent—one being of Greek-Cypriot heritage or his father, a former Republic of Ireland international—he could join an EU club when he turns 16 on October 6. The teenager has not trained with Manchester United since scoring a hat-trick in his UEFA Youth League debut on September 10, and tournament rules prohibit him from playing for another team this season.
