Kurt Siuzdak, a 61-year-old hiker from Connecticut, suffered a dislocated shoulder and back injuries after slipping on wet granite while hiking Mount Washington in New Hampshire earlier this week. The incident occurred around 10 a.m., six hours into his hike which began at approximately 4 a.m. Despite the severe injury, Siuzdak decided to continue climbing for another mile and a half toward the summit. Another hiker found him about five hours later, whereupon he was met by two officers who accompanied him but did not stop his ascent. According to reports from The Boston Globe citing the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Siuzdak managed to reach the summit on his own, demonstrating remarkable perseverance despite the agonizing pain.
