Los Angeles-based AP reported that the San Francisco Giants shut down their ace pitcher, Logan Webb, for the remainder of the season on Friday due to a blister on his right middle finger. Webb had an 8-9 record with a 4.31 ERA and 134 strikeouts in 27 starts this year. Although he earned All-Star honors for the third consecutive year following a strong June, he struggled later in the season. Webb previously missed three weeks in May due to right knee bursitis. Additionally, infielder Nate Furman was placed on the injured list with an oblique strain. The Giants have been eliminated from postseason contention for the fifth straight year and currently stand at 64-89.
