On Friday afternoon, two glider planes collided mid-air near Wheeler Road in Edinburg, New York, about 54 miles northwest of Albany. One pilot safely landed his plane at the nearby Plateau Sky Ranch Airport and was uninjured, while the second pilot, who was alone in the aircraft, died at the crash site. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were notified to investigate the incident. New York State Police requested that the public avoid the area near Sand Lake Road where debris from the crash was found.
