Washington residents got excited about a new water park coming to Bellevue, only to learn that the $110 million project is actually being built in Bellevue, Nebraska, more than 1,500 miles away. The confusion arose when some social media users mistook Bellevue Bay Indoor Water Park for an attraction planned for their city. This water park, set to open next year just south of Omaha in Nebraska, received a recent approval from the Bellevue City Council for an additional $50 million in bonds to cover rising labor and material costs, bringing its total construction cost to $110 million. Some social media users suggested that the initial excitement showed there is demand for another water park in Washington state. Officials in Nebraska are optimistic about the project becoming a major regional attraction.
