On September 20, President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social that he had agreed to convert a proposed triumphal arch, planned since the Civil War Era and located at the Receptive Circle near the Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington D.C., into a "top grade Military Complex/Triumphal Arch" for national security purposes. The new design would include facilities for housing and deploying large numbers of drones and snipers from both the roof and plaza areas, along with storage for sniper ammunition. Trump claimed this was done at the "strong request" of the United States Military. He also asserted that Washington D.C. is the only major city among 59 capitals worldwide without a triumphal arch, positioning his planned structure as the most significant in the world. However, the project has faced criticism for potential impacts on historic sight lines and nearby air traffic regulations.
