A new ITV drama titled "Bad Blood" has started filming, focusing on a tragic scandal involving contaminated blood and blood products that affected over 30,000 people in the UK between the 1970s and early 1990s, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths. The show is set at Treloar’s, a boarding school for disabled children with an attached specialized NHS center for haemophiliacs. It follows four boys who receive Factor VIII treatment, which was supposed to improve their quality of life but turned out to be contaminated due to testing on blood products from high-risk donors in the United States, including prisoners. Written by Peter Moffatt, the series aims to shed light on this dark chapter of British medical history and its long-term health implications for survivors.
