Lilly Angel Rodgers, an 11-year-old girl from Newton Abbot, died on a summer day after a hidden branch pierced her heart while she was playing with friends at Wacker Quay near Plymouth, Cornwall. According to reports by Cornwall Live, Rodgers and two friends were sliding headfirst down a muddy bank when the incident occurred. She stood up clutching her chest before collapsing into the mud. Despite attempts to help, including CPR administered by another adult who arrived shortly after, she could not be revived. The tragedy happened while the adults nearby prepared for a barbecue; the children were in their line of sight but engaged in activities that led to the fatal accident. Rodgers was described as an active girl who enjoyed surfing, climbing, camping, and paddleboarding.
