Lionel Richie, the 77-year-old American singer, was hospitalized for a second time in a month due to heart issues related to atrial fibrillation (AFib). On Tuesday, his representative confirmed that Richie underwent a minimally invasive AFib ablation procedure at a hospital. The shows scheduled for Saturday in San Francisco, September 30 in Chicago, and October 2 in Columbus, Ohio, as part of his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, have been canceled due to his health concerns. Richie's rep stated that he is doing well but will need some time off before returning to the stage soon. Earlier this summer, Richie had also cut short the opening night of his Sing A Song All Night Long Tour and postponed two shows due to illness. Despite these health challenges, Richie remains a celebrated artist with numerous hit songs including "Hello," "Dancing On The Ceiling," and "My Destiny."
