In Castlemaine, a historic gold rush town known for its many traditional pubs, a new establishment called Love Shack Brewing Co has opened to great local acclaim. Despite the existing vibrant pub scene, Love Shack offers a unique blend of Australiana decor and modern comfort food. The pub features timber panelling, swirly carpets, and televisions tuned to sports, creating an inviting atmosphere that appeals to both locals and visitors.
Chef Joel Baylon, who previously worked at high-end dining spots like Aru and The Moon wine bar, now delights patrons with dishes such as mushroom vol-au-vents and diner-style cheeseburgers. The menu also includes local specialties prepared by the town's butcher, ensuring a taste of authentic Castlemaine cuisine.
Beyond its culinary offerings, Love Shack hosts various events like footy tipping competitions and BYO vinyl nights, contributing to its popularity among the community. The brewery focuses on classic beer styles rather than experimental brews, aligning with the preferences of regular patrons who appreciate traditional flavors.
