Luis Arraez, the Philadelphia Phillies' second baseman, left Thursday's game against Milwaukee with a sprained left ankle after attempting to avoid a tag at first base. Arraez, who has won three batting titles previously, was leading the National League with a .311 batting average prior to the injury. During the incident, a ground ball to shortstop Cooper Pratt resulted in a wide throw that pulled first baseman Jake Bauers off the bag; Arraez dived and injured his ankle while trying to avoid being tagged out. He stayed on the ground for several minutes before hobbling off with assistance from trainers as the game was tied 1-1 in the sixth inning. The Phillies needed to win this game and have the San Diego Padres lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers later that night to clinch their fifth consecutive playoff appearance. In Arraez's absence, Bryson Stott moved from third base to second base, and Edmundo Sosa took over at third base.
