A 28-year-old British climber died after falling approximately 60 meters (200 feet) near the summit of Torrecerredo, one of Spain's highest peaks at 8,690ft, in the Picos de Europa mountain range on Thursday. Emergency services were alerted around 13:45 local time, and a rescue team was deployed to confirm his death before retrieving his body and belongings scattered from the fall. The incident occurred while he was descending just 20 meters below the summit. His remains were transported to La Morgal in Llanera near Oviedo and Gijon, Asturias. The UK Foreign Office has been informed of the death, with local authorities handling the investigation.
