On Wednesday, the body of a 50-year-old jewelry shop owner named Niranjan Chandra Sutradhar was found floating inside a drum near a sluice gate in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The body, wrapped in cloth, was identified after a token belonging to Mymensingh Hindu Cooperative Credit Union Limited was found in his pocket. Using the token, police contacted the credit union which confirmed Sutradhar’s identity. His wife, Sumita Rani Sutradhar, and son, Joy Sutradhar, identified the body on Thursday evening. The jewelry shop he owned was located in the Atharbari Building area of Mymensingh city. Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin from the Kotwali Model Police Station provided details about how the identification process unfolded. This tragic incident has highlighted issues related to personal identification and community ties within small Bangladeshi towns.
