On Saturday night in Davis, California, Eli Gillman of Montana set a program record by running for 275 yards and scoring four touchdowns as the Grizzlies routed UC Davis 62-22. Montana's quarterback Keali’i Ah Yat also contributed significantly with 241 passing yards, two touchdown passes, and two rushing touchdowns. The Grizzlies led by 31-0 at halftime after Gillman’s early performance included a pair of 5-yard touchdown runs. In the second half, Gillman added another 16-yard run and broke free for a 58-yard score in the fourth quarter, surpassing the previous rushing record set by Yohance Humphrey against Weber State on November 10, 2001. UC Davis managed to reduce their deficit slightly with quarterback Treynor Cleeland's late touchdown pass but could not overcome Montana’s dominant first half performance.
