Brandon McNulty became the first American to win the men's elite road race world title since Lance Armstrong in 1993, capturing the victory on the final day of UCI Road World Championships in Montreal. The 28-year-old rider from the UAE Emirates team made a decisive move with 33 kilometers left and crossed the finish line first after six hours, 17 minutes, and four seconds, breaking away from the field by 13 seconds. Michael Matthews of Australia secured second place, while Mathieu van der Poel of the Netherlands took bronze. Notable Canadian finishes included Michael Leonard (32nd) with a time of 6:23:43 and Michael Woods finishing in 35th position in his final race. McNulty's win was described as a "miracle," given the exhaustion he felt during the last kilometers of the 273.4km course.
