On Monday, Nigel Farage joined his Reform colleagues in Edinburgh, where they discussed issues related to Scottish independence. Following their meeting, Farage told LBC that the "Celtic alliance," which supports devolution or independence for Scotland and Wales, does not pose a serious threat to the UK's unity. He argued that Scottish independence is a "settled issue" due to previous referendums and generational changes.
However, SNP MSP Calum Kerr countered Farage’s remarks by pointing out that last week 70% of the members in the Scottish Parliament supported Scotland’s right to decide its own future. Kerr emphasized this as a democratic principle and noted it builds on recent statements made by Labour leader Andy Burnham about Scottish independence.
When questioned about polling suggesting support for Scottish independence would increase if Farage became Prime Minister, he dismissed these concerns, stating that previous predictions of similar outcomes had not materialized.
