On September 29, in dawn raids across London and four other counties, over 800 police officers arrested 17 people involved with a suspected organized crime syndicate. The operation targeted addresses in Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Suffolk. A Metropolitan Police officer was stabbed during one raid in Cockfosters, Barnet; the injury was non-life-threatening. Among those arrested were suspects accused of participating in serious criminal activities including money laundering and tax evasion. Charles Charalambous, 56, is charged with wounding a police officer to resist arrest and had £500,000 in cash found at his home during the raid. The operation involved collaboration between the Metropolitan Police, HMRC, and FCA.
