On June 30, several children at the Affiliated Kindergarten of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in Jiangsu province exhibited symptoms such as nausea and vomiting after lunch. A teacher later revealed that kitchen staff had been washing dirty mops in cooking pots, among other unsanitary practices. Local authorities responded by issuing warnings to 11 officials and firing the principal and entire kitchen staff. Parents had been raising hygiene concerns during the summer but received no official response until September. The whistle-blower expressed relief upon seeing the announcement, stating that "the children there can eat clean food now." This incident highlights the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness in educational institutions to ensure the health and safety of young students.
