On Thursday, ahead of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) released images captured by its MUSICO camera aboard the Tiangong space station. MUSICO, which stands for Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory, is a pioneering instrument designed to detect carbon dioxide and methane with high precision. Developed under HKUST’s leadership, it features four optical sensors measuring carbon dioxide, methane, oxygen, and aerosols. The images show Hong Kong's landforms and topographic features, as well as surrounding areas, marking the camera's first operational images of the city.
