Christy Carlson Romano, formerly starring in Disney Channel's "Even Stevens", reveals her struggles with substance abuse and bulimia in a new memoir excerpt published by People magazine. At a Halloween party at Paris Hilton’s home, Romano was introduced to cocaine for the first time, an experience she initially swore against but ultimately tried. The partygoers mocked her for being a Disney Channel star trying blow for the first time.
Romano details how after this initial exposure, she became addicted and developed bulimia as a coping mechanism, reducing her body size significantly. She describes her lifestyle in Los Angeles during those six months as unhealthily indulgent, with days spent sleeping and nights spent partying. Realizing the damaging effects of such a life on her well-being, Romano decided to leave Hollywood.
In her memoir, she expresses concern that this shallow and destructive lifestyle "will kill me," reflecting deeply about the toll it took on her health and happiness.
